WATERMAEL-BOITSFORT, THE VILLAGE

The municipality of Watermael-Boitsfort was and still is a particularly popular place of residence for the wealthy inhabitants of Brussels, who came here to build, among other things, castle villas. More modest houses and office complexes, always very close to nature (Japanese cherry trees colour many of the avenues pink), have been added, creating a diversified ensemble in a beautiful, quiet area.

The green spaces, the parks (La Héronnière in Watermael or Tournay-Solvay in Boitsfort...) or the forest, offer a haven of peace. The "green walk", a signposted circuit around Brussels, runs along the southern part of the municipality on the Boitsfort side.

In addition to its library and games library and its art academy (the municipality has a cultural centre, the "vènerie", which offers a wide variety of shows).

Keym Square, a real village square, is a small, human-sized shopping centre in the heart of Watermael.

The centre of Boitsfort (Wienerplein) offers good cafés and restaurants. Large shops are available in the neighbouring town of Auderghem.

Among the residential municipalities in the east of Brussels, Watermael-Boitsfort has a relatively more affordable housing stock for the purchase of houses, villas and flats. Flats can be rented at a price in line with the same municipalities in the east of Brussels.
