ETTERBEEK, THE EUROPEAN
The municipality of Etterbeek is very close to many of the buildings of the European institutions. It is extremely dynamic in this sense and many Europeans choose to live here.
It offers a wide public transport network: three metro stations, two railway stations, several tram and bus lines. Several cultural centres (3), theatres (6), small museums (3) and art galleries (4) are located here. Etterbeek is located in the immediate vicinity of the Royal Museums of the Fiftieth Anniversary (Arts and History, Autoworld, Army...). On the esplanade of the same name, several hundred events are organised each year (start of the 20 km of Brussels, etc.). Its surroundings and the Avenue de Tervuren, which begins there, are a very Brussels-like walk lined with pleasant cafés.
The Rue des Tongres is home to high-end shops. The Chasse district offers a variety of shops. The town is criss-crossed by various large stores. The Place Jourdan, another of the municipality's most dynamic centres, hosts a market every Sunday. Buying a house in Etterbeek is considerably more expensive than in Brussels city. Flats, on the other hand, are comparably priced in the centre. Renting in this municipality is among the most expensive in the entire Brussels region.
