Moving

Make a note of any damage and ask the team leader to initial it. Do not sign an acknowledgement of receipt of the removal without first signing the following words: "subject to verification of loss or damage". Sort out what is left and what is going. Sometimes you have to part with your memories and pack dozens of boxes. Expatriation is a famous challenge but also a famous stress. So to do it with peace of mind, turn to a mover who is used to solid packing and long international transport. In two words: expatriation professionals.

A successful move!

  1. All your belongings are insured for their replacement value.

  2. Water and electricity are operational.

  3. You show the team the house from top to bottom and, if necessary, place signs on the doors with the name of each room in the language the team understands (most removal companies speak English).

  4. The team of movers should not exceed 4 people. You risk being overwhelmed if there are more.

  5. You take the time to explain what you want.

  6. You provide supervision for your children.

  7. You provide food and drink. Offer something to drink to the team members, it will be much appreciated.

  8. You make sure that EVERYTHING is unpacked and that boxes, cartons and papers are cleared before the movers leave.

  9. Make a note of any damage and ask the team leader to initial it. Do not sign an acknowledgement of receipt of the move without first signing the following words: "subject to verification of loss or damage".

  10. Don't forget the tip.

To avoid many complications, use a mover who is used to international moves.

A word of advice:

Don't forget to reserve a parking space in front of your building for the removal truck. Apply to your local council a few days before the move.
